Description
Bare Knuckle VHII 6-String Pickup Set in open coil Matte ZebraÂ
This pickup set features a 4-conductor wiring, short legs, and reverse magnet option witch allows for selecting inner or outer pairs when coil tapping. The bridge is 53mm (trem spaced).
Our Take:
This is the most popular neck pickup we sell. It lower power and Alnico V magnet provide a warm full clean sound. But it shines most when put under gain. If you favor the neck position for high gain lead work, then this is simply the best pickup for the job. It does the juicy, liquidy lead thing that anyone whos ever heard John Petrucci wants. But the VHII manages to stay clear and mud free no matter how much gain or bottom end you throw at it. An honorable mention goes to the Coldsweat neck pickup, but the VHII is slightly more clear, and to us feels a little more expressive. We highly recommend pairing the VHII neck with its own VHII bridge model. But it also goes extremely well with higher powered bridge models like the nailbomb (either ceramic or alnico versions), or the Aftermath.
The VHII Bridge is a very open, dynamic and almost unruly pickup. Despite it’s lower DC reading, it feels full of energy and sounds completely uncompressed. It is very sensitive to pick attack and carries a unique and charming front for all its picked notes that borders on pick chirp, but blooms quickly into rich overtones. If you’ve spent your life getting your picking hand into shape and you don’t want a pickup to hide that, check this thing out.

From BKP’s Site:
Crystal clear highs, defined bottom-end and the versatile output of a vintage hot humbucker lay down the ultimate in clean overdrive and even harmonic response with the VHII humbucker.
Totally unique approaches to the asymmetrical coils of the VHII humbucker allow it to retain phenomenal clarity whilst maximising the output of 42 AWG plain enamel wire. Voiced to capture the original raw energy and brown sound of the late ’70s, the vintage cut Alnico V magnet allows for a really open and touch sensitive feel. Harmonic overtones are strong and defined with excellent string separation, which produces a huge sound with superb pick attack even when used with extreme amounts of preamp gain. The design of the coils allows for great split and parallel options, working extremely well with rotary tone selectors.
