Description

Dingwall’s Afterburner I boasts intelligent design, a flexible electronics package and real tonal character. The alder body and solid bolt-on neck joint, paired with the company’s tried-and-tested pickups, combine to deliver a well rounded and versatile instrument. These basses are the complete package for bassists from all walks of life, both onstage and in the recording studio.

Body & Neck:
The Afterburner I shares the same styling and solid construction as the ABZ, which makes for a nicely balanced and maneuverable instrument that’s immediately playable. The alder body is paired with a five-piece maple neck, and wenge fingerboard. The headstock features unique counter bores that, combined with our custom Hipshot Ultralite tuners, allow for a proper break angle at the nut.

Pickups & Electronics:
The ABI utilizes our FDV pickup configuration, which offers a well rounded range of bass tones. These are passive pickups wired to our 4-position Quad-tone pickup selector, with an optional 3-band active EQ from our collaboration with Rupert Neve.

Hardware:
The Afterburner bridge is a sleek design that’s fully adjustable and fits the style of the bass perfectly. Collaborating with Hipshot, we reduced the complexity of the saddles to a minimum, then designed a unique base plate system to hold them rigidly in place.
