ENGL Savage MKII 60W head in Black Taurus.  This masterful high-gain classic has been reborn with familiar brutality, and new refinements.  

If ENGLs overall sound could be summed up, it would be something along the lines of smooth, refined, or pre-recorded.  That and the modern response that is ultra tight without being stiff makes them fun to play and understandably the most popular amps we carry.  The Savage MKII is somewhat of an outlier in that it sounds much more raw, open, “in the room”, and aggressive than any of their other offerings.  Our research indicates that the brootz have been increased by about 28% from the MKI.  It still retains the ultra easy-to-play feel of an ENGL and still saturates at incredibly low volumes like all ENGLs do (their full sized heads all sound better than most micro heads at bedroom volumes).    The Savage MKII is a 4 channel amp with two shared EQs.  With a slew of tonal options that are all accessible from the front face of the amp (bright, low vs high gain, mid contouring, smooth/rough, bass boost etc) and 2 FX loops you’ll be hard pressed to find a sound you can’t achieve.

A true classic in the world of amp heads in its latest and best reincarnation, this amp is simply incomparable when it comes to dynamics and flexibility. The Mark II includes some incredible new inner developments, as well as a bunch of new features. The MIDI port is now included as standard, as well as a finely tuned and sensitive-responding noise gate – so you’ll not be disrupted by extraneous noise, even at extreme gain settings.

Our iconic amplifier designer, Horst Langer, has also reworked the 3-band EQ from Channel 1 and Channel 2, which come freshly voiced and equipped with Lean/Bold circuits for two different mids characters. Also new is the Gain Lo/Hi circuit, where the Clean channel becomes “Crunch” in “Hi” mode, and the Lead channel gets even fatter and heavier. Four channels, tons of sound-shaping features and truly thunderous tones make the SAVAGE Mark II the perfect sound center for a modern guitar rig.
